Homemade Wood Sign- No Cutting Machine Needed!

I’m sure you’ve seen signs similar to these at your local Hobby Lobby, At Home, Michael’s or whatever store sells home decor. And I’m sure they have been a little more expensive then you’d like. And I’m sure you’ve wondered if you could just make it yourself. And I’m sure you quickly answered no because you assumed you needed some fancy equipment! I sound really sure of myself, uh? LOL!

Well, I have good news! You can make these signs WITHOUT fancy machines. Yes, having a cutting machine such as a Silhouette or Cricut would be faster, but it’s still possible to have really cute signs without the machine. Here’s how:

Supplies Needed:

Blank Wood Sign

Black Permanent or Paint Marker

Pencil

Printer

1.) Go to your local Hobby Lobby (or something similar) to find blank wood signs. They have various sizes and shapes to choose from.

2.) Print, using black ink, whatever saying you want for your sign. Keep in mind font and font size.

3.) Place printed saying on your wood sign, face up.

4.) Using your pencil, trace the words of your saying being sure to go over the edges of each letter really well.

5.) When you pick up the paper you will see that the black ink from the paper has transferred to wood sign.

6.) Using your permanent or paint marker, carefully fill in the letter on your sign. Make sure that it is completely filled in and the edges are crisp.

CONGRATULATIONS! You have a gorgeous wood sign without spending hundreds of dollars on a cutting machine, vinyl, etc. I would love to see your sign! You can post it in the comments here or go to our Facebook Page and post it there! Happy Crafting!
