Love Language Dates

My husband and I have a real passion for marriages. The quote “You date to marry and marry to date.” is so true! We try to be intentional about speaking each other’s love language. Recently we took a stay-cation and I decided to create some love language day dates to go on while our children were in school. We really wanted to travel, but just couldn’t. So, I had hoped that these dates would add some fun and excitement to our staycation.

Day 1’s Love Languages: Receiving Gifts and Quality Time

Date Details: We went to Target with a $75 dollar budget. We each had a digital version of the shopping objective (see below) and the goal was to shop for five of the objectives. Next, we enjoyed some time at Dave and Buster’s cause it’s one of our favorite places to hang out. Even better is the fact that games are half price on Wednesday’s so that’s the day we went. We recently discovered the Star Trek Card Coinshooter game (I don’t know what it’s really called). Talk about fun…and maybe a little addictive. Anyway, that’s another conversation. After Dave and Buster’s we planned to enjoy lunch at a place that we hadn’t been before. Lastly, we wanted to start filling out the Mountaintop of Marriage: A Vision Retreat Guidebook by Jimmy Evans.

Day 2’s Love Languages: Acts of Service, Physical Touch, and Words of Affirmation

Date Details: The final day of dates was completed at home. First, I made breakfast in bed for both of us. We enjoyed that while watching Hell’s Kitchen. Second, we took turns giving each other the gifts we purchased the day before. Third, we worked on our words of affirmation Scrabble Frame crafting project. (The instructions are below.) The project was actually really fun and thoughtful. Lastly, we ended the date with some sexy time. Oh yeah!! 🙂

Honestly, it wasn’t a lot of work putting everything together. The most time consuming part was going to Michael’s for the craft supplies and creating the digital invitations, objectives, etc. We had a great time together and it’s something we will probably do again in a few months. Feel free to download the resources below…Happy Dating!

Our final project! Isn’t it cute?
